The sample data is a small, complete data set for portier Vision. Use it to get to know Vision, to train someone new, or to test a procedure without touching real data. It comes as two ZIP files, one for the locking system and one for the personnel.
What the sample data contains
Demo-Anlage.zip holds a portier XML file with a small, typical locking system. After the import you will find the buildings, the cylinders, the keys with their copies and the locking plan that ties them together in Vision.
Demo-Personal.zip holds a personnel file with a short list of people, so you can practise issuing keys without using real personnel records.
Start with a test database
Never import the sample data into your production database. The import adds another locking system, and the personnel import can mark people who are missing from the file as departed.
Create an empty test database and point Vision at it from the database configuration in the portier Vision Companion. Switch back to the production database in the same place when you are done.
Import the locking system
Download Demo-Anlage.zip and unpack the XML file.
Start the Companion from Vision, using the locking system import entry in the menu. Your Vision login is carried over, so you do not sign in a second time. Open the import area, choose the portier XML import, drop the file in and start the import. Files are capped at 5 MB, far more than the demo system needs.

Import the personnel data
Download Demo-Personal.zip and unpack the file.
Open the personnel import in the Companion. The columns are detected automatically and a preview appears. Check the mapping there and run a dry run first. Only then write the data into the database.

What to try once it is loaded
Follow which key opens which cylinders in the locking plan.
Issue key copies to people and take them back.
Mark a person as departed and check which keys are still out.
Run the same import a second time and see how a re-import behaves.
Limits when you import again
If you import the same locking system a second time, Vision recognises it by the cylinder identity and creates no duplicate. Existing locking systems and buildings are not updated, though. A change you made to a system that was already imported will not come through.
Buildings are matched on the name alone. Two buildings with the same description collapse into one. For a clean second run, start from a fresh test database.
